Established in 1954, Chadmoore Formal Wear was founded
by Peter "Tony" Cona. It was originally located
at Bancroft and Moore Streets. The "Chadmoore"
name originated from an athletic social club of neighborhood
boys in South Philadelphia. They lived in the vicinity
of Chadwick and Moore Streets and coined the name "Chadmoore"
for their sports teams. The original club members still
meet socially today.
After graduating Villanova University in 1964, Frank
A. Cona, son of Tony relocated the store to 2138 S.
Broad Street where it still thrives today. Son Frank
Jr., daughter Wendy, and Son-in-law Nick Graziano now
operate two locations in South Philadelphia and Washington
Township, New Jersey.
Chadmoore is well known for many "firsts"
in the formal wear industry. We were the first to rent
an all white and all ivory tuxedo, and we also introduced
the first designer tuxedo, Pierre Cardin, to the Philadelphia
area. Today we continue to be in the forefront of style
and fashion. Let our experience and attention to detail
give you the best possible fit and look for your special
occasion.
